About Susie Gillatt
Combining photography and painting helps me to create an image that is part reality and part illusion. Using a computer enables me to add painterly effects while still maintaining areas of photographic detail within the image. Is it a photograph or a painting? It is often both.

I grew up in Tucson, Arizona where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arizona. I studied photography at Pima Community College and also at the Banff Centre in Canada. I have worked as a photographer and in different capacities in the field of video production. In 1989, I formed Terra Chroma, Inc., a multimedia studio. Initially specializing in the production of educational videos, I now focus on scientific illustration for academic books and journals, as well as my own art of combining photography with digital painting.
